Fear and Loathing in Columbus – February 5, 2019

Another week, another REALLY late post. Sorry, everyone, we got in from Columbus, Ohio pretty late Sunday, and I had to work Sunday night, so this is the first chance I’ve had to sit down and write this post.

We spent the weekend visiting friends in Columbus and had a great time, but needless to say, I didn’t manage to get much writing done while we were gone.

The trip was a lot of fun, and we had a really good time re-connecting with some friends. We also had some really good pizza at a place called Pies & Pints. Check it out if you’re ever in the area if you like pizza.

I did manage to do some writing before we left, and then again today, so I haven’t been slacking off entirely, but it was good to get away and take a break from writing for a weekend, especially after the mood I’ve been in lately.

I ran across a post on my Facebook feed in one of my writing groups recently that’s helped me to put some things into perspective. Someone posted that they had finally finished their NaNo project and was very happy about that, of course. They said that their draft came in at over 185,000 words, but they would be editing that down significantly. It was good to see that I’m not the only person who’s draft has gotten really big, and that made me feel less worried about my own word count.

Other than that, there’s not really all that much to report. Because of the weekend away, I haven’t managed to be as productive as I’d like to be.

I’ve written another 6000 words since the last check-in, trying to keep up with my 1000 words per day goal, but with the time away, I did end up skipping a few days.

The draft is now just over 128,000 words in total.

I did get around to doing some work in the shop before we went away. I’m still working on the kitchen cabinet doors, though as I said before, last week’s frigid temperatures were really messing with the finish, so I’m still working on trying to fix that. I’m hoping to get to the next set of doors this weekend.

Well, there’s my update for the week. I’m still plugging away at it, knowing that someday, I’ll finish this thing 😉

Hope all is well with you.
