ROW80 Check-In #11 – February 6, 2019

row80logocopyNot too much more to report from the last Check-In. That one was late, so it’s only been a couple of days.

I think I’m getting a head cold, so not really motivated to make a long blog post here.

So, here’s the Check-In Goals breakdown…

Goal #1 – Finish my First Draft

I’ve written another 2200 words since the last check-in, trying to keep up with my 1000 words per day goal.

Since this Round began, I’ve written about 38,700 words, and the draft is now just over 130,000 words in total.

Goal #2 – Write At Least Three Articles/Essays

Still haven’t gotten around to this one yet, because I’m saving this one for when I’m done the first draft and want to take a break from it. Though I am considering taking some time off from the first draft to work on at least one small writing project, just for a change of pace.

Goal #3 – Start Editing

I still haven’t started on this one, either. I won’t edit until the draft is done. I’m a horrible self-editor, so I’m really trying to not go back and edit while I write. I’m saving all of the editing for when the draft is done.

Goal #4 – Read at least Two Books

I’m about two-thirds of the way through Anthony Horowitz‘s The House of Silk, a Sherlock Holmes story, and I’m still really enjoying it.

After I’m finished with it, I’m going to switch over to some Military Sci-Fi, which is more in keeping with the WIP I’m working on.

Sorry for the short update. I’m still a bit worn out from the weekend, and like I said, think I’m coming down with a cold.

Hope all is well with you.

  1. 38,600 words in just this round? I know it seems slow in comparison to the craziness of NaNoWriMo but it’s still great progress. I hope you feel better soon!

  2. Fighting head colds…. It’s hard to write when your head is full of nasty stuff that doesn’t involve words. Get better. And… maybe your idea of diverting to a small side project might clear the writing channels some too.
