ROW80, Round 2 Check-In #16 – May 27, 2019

Late again 😦

Not too much to report since my last Check-In.

My last Check-In was a few days late, so progress on the novel isn’t as much as I would have liked. I spent a lot of time these past few days working on my greenhouse and trying to zen out, and I had Movement all of Saturday, (and then Movement Recovery all of Sunday, lol), so I haven’t had a lot of time to dedicate to the writing.

The greenhouse is coming along nicely, and I hope to have it finished and to start planting inside it within the next few weeks. Then I can get back to finishing the kitchen cabinets.

Movement was a great time. I saw some great acts that I was unfamiliar with, and the people watching was fantastic. My EDM Friend and I also partook in a little recreational pharmaceutical fun, which added to the experience. 😉

The highlights from the day for me were Octave One and Tinman. Orbital, the main headliner for the day, were ok.

The weather held out for the most part, though we did get a short but strong afternoon thunderstorm and had to hide out in the underground while it passed.

The people watching was fantastic as usual. These types of events can sure bring out some characters. 😉

I spent most of Sunday napping and recovering from Movement after I got back from visiting my mom out in the county.

Tomorrow I have my writer’s meeting, but I haven’t had a chance to work on my next submission, so I think I’m going to hold off on submitting until next weekend.

Otherwise, there’s not a whole lot to report.

So, on to this Check-In’s Goal Breakdown…

Goal #1 – Get Healthy

The latest “incident” with my blood sugar still has me a bit down, but I’m trying to move past that.

Things were thrown off a bit with going to Movement on the weekend, but I was keeping up with my exercise routine before it, and all of the walking and dancing on Saturday, as well as all of the climbing up and down ladders during the greenhouse build,  has kept me active.

The “healthy” diet is still on track as well, and I’m still working on taking some tentative steps in eliminating a certain vice that I really should have gotten rid of a long time ago.

Goal #2 – Finish My First Draft

Since my last Check-In, I’ve written about another 1500 words. My health issues and my obsession with building my greenhouse did derail me some, but I’ve still managed to write more days than not.

The word count for the draft so far sits at 192,223.

Goal #3 – Write At Least Three Articles/Essays

As before, I’m saving this goal for when I finish the first draft.

At this point, I think it’s better to just plow through and finish this project before I start any others.

Goal #4 – Start Editing

I haven’t done any more editing on the draft since I submitted it for critique at my writing group. I’m going to try and get back to my commitment not to edit it anymore until the draft is finished unless I decide to submit another piece for critique.

If I do decide to submit another piece for critique at my writing group, though, I will have to do some editing to polish up my submission.

Goal #5 – Read at least Two Books

I’m still reading Anthony Horowitz’s Moriarty, a sequel to his Sherlock Holmes tale The House of Silk, though I haven’t read much more of it since my last Check-In.

I’m about 105 pages in so far, and I am really enjoying it.

Goal #6 – Read/Watch One Article/Video on Writing Every Day

This one I’ve been pretty lax on. I haven’t really had much time to sit and watch videos or read articles since my last Check-In, so nothing to list here today.

Well, that’s it for me this Check-In. I’m hoping to get myself back on track for the rest of this Round. Hope you’re all well.
