So, keeping up with my habit of making these posts a few days late, here we go.
All in all, it wasn’t too bad of a week, especially after last weekend.
I’m managing to get the car situation sorted out, and I think Carmageddon is just about half over. Only a few more things to get done and then all three vehicles should be set for a while (knock wood).
I managed to sail through the week well enough and kept up with my writing goals through most of it. The story is still moving along, though it’s taking much longer than I thought it would. No one ever told me this would be easy, though, so I really shouldn’t complain.
We had Drunk D&D again this past Friday, which was a lot of fun, as it always is. My character now has a Giant War Rhino as a mount, so I’ve got that going for me at least.
I kind of blew off all of my responsibilities this weekend and took a couple of “Me” days. I’m going to be home all next week, as we’re laid off from work, so I figured I’d just take it easy for the weekend, and leave all of the important projects for during the week when I’ll have empty hours to fill.
I spent a lot of time in my workshop this weekend, as the weather wasn’t so cold that the heaters in the shop couldn’t keep up. I just spent some time doing fun, vanity projects that I’ve been wanting to do, rather than the stuff I have to get to doing very soon.
A friend of mine was getting rid of some old desktop computers, so I spent some time refurbishing them. I have one in the workshop now, loaded with all of my favourite music (It’s hooked up to my shop stereo), and with AutoCad so I can draft up the designs for any projects I’m working on.
This weekend I built a dust box for the desktop, a stop-block for my mitre-saw fence, a cross-cut sled for my table saw, with it’s own stop block, and I pimped out my small, auxiliary work-bench, adding some dog-holes to it, as well as a shop-made Moxon Vice, and I fixed the wiring and switch in it.
Save for one small piece of MDF, everything I made this weekend was from scrap and stuff I already had laying around in the shop. I am exceedingly proud of myself for how everything turned out.
We went out for dinner on Saturday night to celebrate Valentine’s Day (not really, it was just a treat I gave the wife so she could have a break from cooking).
As far as writing, I was managing to keep up with my daily goal until the weekend. While I have written every day, these last couple of days haven’t been as productive on the writing front as I would have hoped. Still, I did write each day, so that counts.
The story is slowly moving toward the climax, but I find that I’m having to do a lot of explaining in the writing in order not to write myself into a corner if that makes sense. I’ll have to edit pretty much everything I’ve written in the last week down later in order to make sense of it, but that’s how this thing works I guess.
So, I’ve written about another 6,000 words since my last update, and the draft is now just over 140,000 words.
And yeah, I’m still doing this crazy thing.
Hope you’ve all had a good week.
