Happy Halloween, everyone.
Apart from that, today is the last day before NaNoWriMo kicks off, which means that all of this practice I’ve been doing for the last month and more will be put to the test.
Tomorrow, this silly writing thing starts for real.
I’m a bit nervous, but as prepared as I suppose I can be.
I got my writing for the day in early – just because it’s the last day of practice, I didn’t want to slack off. I thought it best to keep up my routine so that tomorrow will seem a bit more business as usual.
I didn’t get much of note done today besides that, though. I just messed about in my workshop, working on some more dice boxes and listening to podcasts to try and keep my mind off things.
To date, over a period of 40 days, I’ve written 57,739 words in preparation for NaNo, averaging 1444 words per day, but I’ve significantly increased my output over the last few weeks.
The plan is to start in on it right at midnight, and get as many words in before I feel I have to get to bed. I want an early head start because I’m going to a NaNo Kick Off party tomorrow night with a few other people from Windsor who are participating in NaNo as well, and I want to already have my 1667 in for the day before then.
Some of the people who are supposed to be attending the party tomorrow are NaNo veterans, and a few of them have actually already published their work (mostly small press, but still), so it’s a bit intimidating knowing I’ll be one of the few who’s never done this before. I’ll also probably be the oldest one there, as the list of attending participants seems to be mostly twenty-somethings.
For now, I think I’ll just while away the hours working in my shop, and answering the door for trick-or-treaters, trying not to over-think what I’m going to do when the clock strikes twelve. I’m hoping when that does happen, I won’t freeze up and go blank.
Wish me luck
